Tony Baltimore

Long before Tony Baltimore became a fixture of the Key West music scene, music was already shaping his life.

Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Tony began as a drummer before picking up the guitar as a teenager. Rock bands followed, along with songwriting and singing. He also earned an MFA in creative writing, a background that still influences his approach to lyrics and storytelling.

Finding Key West

A trip to Key West eventually changed the direction of Tony’s career. Drawn to an island where musicians could make a living performing night after night, he moved south in 2011.

Not long after arriving, a search for bartending work unexpectedly led to a music gig instead. That opportunity helped launch the next chapter of his career.

What started with solo acoustic performances soon grew into collaborations with other Key West musicians, full-band shows, and an expanding catalog of original music.

A Sound of His Own

Tony’s music does not fit neatly into one category. Rock & roll sits at the center, but pop, roots, indie, and other influences regularly find their way into the mix.

That range feels especially at home in Key West, where musical styles and personalities have always had a way of blending together.

Over the years, Tony has also become part of projects such as the Keys Beatle Band. At the same time, he has continued building his reputation as a songwriter and recording artist.

Albums and Recognition

Tony’s catalog includes Define the Blur, Hear Me In, Let’s All Go Insane, Hello Bordello, and his 2026 album, Cat Amongst the Pigeons.

In 2024, he was named Songwriter of the Year at the Key West Music Awards. Hello Bordello also earned Album of the Year.

After more than a decade of making music in Key West, Tony Baltimore has become part of the island’s soundtrack. He has done it not by trying to sound like Key West, but by finding a place where he could sound entirely like himself.
